Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane on Tuessday reassured the public that student l.
I work for the government and I understand that we deserve more than the 6,5percent raise the government is willing to give us.
But then again I think that the 6,5percent is still fine.
I say this based on the stories we read every day concerning the behaviour of teachers and nurses.
How many stories have we heard about teachers raping young girls and the bad service from Home Affairs and in hospitals?
I strongly feel that before we go on a strike we should first ask ourselves as public servants if we are doing our jobs properly and to the best of our ability.
The story I read in Sowetan about a teacher who raped two girls as they were cleaning the school hall made me realise that teachers like those do not deserve anything near an increase of 12percent. They deserve to lose their jobs they do so badly.
Another newspaper reported on a nurse who allegedly bathed a newborn baby in boiling water. Apparently the nurse did not check the temperature of the water before she immersed the infant. And she is one of the public servants demanding to be paid to behave in a stupid and irresponsible manner?
Yes, there are some teachers and nurses who are working hard but the majority of them seem to fail in doing the most basic tasks.
