The ANC has slammed DA leader Helen Zille for her party clearing controversial politician, Truman Prince, of corruption, fraud and improper sexual conduct charges.
ANC spokesman Garth Strachan said yesterday that Prince's exoneration following his appeal against his removal from his position as municipal manager of Beaufort West "defies belief and logic".
Prince became a well-known public figure after his appearance on SABC's Special Assignment television programme after having allegedly made sexual advances to underage girls. Prince was also alleged to have paid himself a R50000 bonus.
Neither Zille nor DA provincial leader Theuns Botha could be reached for comment yesterday. Prince could also not be reached for comment.
But Jacob van der Linde, Beaufort West mayor and DA leader in the area, was quoted by the SABC yesterday as saying that though Prince was still the legal municipal manager, his reinstatement was not guaranteed.
Arthur Brown, the lawyer for the municipality, has slammed the decision as a political act at the "expense of justice".
