Man shot in taxi shoot-out

A man was badly wounded in a shoot-out between two rival taxi organisations in Laudium in Pretoria, paramedics said yesterday.

A man was badly wounded in a shoot-out between two rival taxi organisations in Laudium in Pretoria, paramedics said yesterday.

Netcare 911 spokesman Nick Dollman said paramedics responded to a call from the Laudium community healthcare centre at about 7pm on Wednesday.

"When paramedics arrived on the scene, they were told that there had been a shooting between two rival taxi organisations," Dollman said.

The man was wounded in both hands, his shoulder and his right leg. Dollman said paramedics, who were not certain if the wounded man was a taxi driver, treated him on the scene, and when he had been stabilised he was transported by ambulance to hospital.

Dollman said that due to the nature of the incident, the name of the hospital could not be divulged. - Sapa
