Three miners died in a mudrush in Rustenburg Platinum Mine's Paardekraal shaft yesterday, the National Union of Mineworkers said.
"The miners were swamped in an underground mudfall, apparently caused by water that flowed down the shaft," said union spokesman Lesiba Seshoka.
The union believes the accident could have been prevented. Mine spokesman Simon Tebele said the accident was being investigated. - Sapa
