Licence to dream is one step closer

The resumption of the National Lottery was brought a step closer on Friday when the National Lotteries Board delivered its report and recommendation to Trade and Industry Minister Mandisi Mpahlwa for the awarding of the new operating licence.

The resumption of the National Lottery was brought a step closer on Friday when the National Lotteries Board delivered its report and recommendation to Trade and Industry Minister Mandisi Mpahlwa for the awarding of the new operating licence.

"The detailed investigative work into the shareholders of all the bidders in the court judgment has been concluded," Mpahlwa said.

"I will require time to study the report and to apply my mind to all the issues covered to enable me to take a decision. I remain committed to making a decision as soon as possible," he said.

On March 5 Pretoria high court judge Willie Seriti set aside awarding the operating licence to the winning bidder Gidani after an application by outgoing lottery operator Uthingo. - Sapa
