Thohoyandou police have launched a manhunt for a well-known businessman after he allegedly shot and killed two people in the village of Tshisahulu at the weekend.

The suspect allegedly had a quarrel with a 21-year-old man at a tavern on Saturday night.

Captain Mashudu Malelo of the Vhembe police, said the young man left the tavern to return home. The suspect allegedly followed him and fired shots at him. The victim was shot in the chest and head and died on the scene.

Malelo said a 66-year-old man then came out of his house to investigate what was happening and he too was allegedly shot. An ambulance was called to the scene but, the young man was certified dead on arrival at the Tshilidzini Hospital.

The suspect then fled the scene, Malelo said. - Chester Makana
