A Volvo front-end loader started off with an offer of below R100 000 but quickly leap-frogged ahead, pitting bidders against each other.
When the sale was finally sealed, the awarded bid price stood at R315 000.
Aucor's rugby-field-sized yard was packed with yellow metal machinery, trucks, mechanical horses, trailers, LDVs, TLBs, generators and sundry equipment.
Arranged side-to-side, lots lined the sides of the yard and went across its bottom end. A double-sided section in the centre of the yard meant that bidders were completely spoilt for choice.
The machinery included a Liebherr L551 loader, a Caterpillar 950 loader, a Komatsu W320 loader, a Galion T600B grader and a CAT 926E front-end loader.
The trucks and mechanical horses included a Mercedes Benz 100m³ tipper and a 2000 Freightliner Argossy 6x4 horse.
This coming week, Aucor will hold auctions over two days for Anglo Platinum.
On June 5 new and used mining equipment and sundry lots will be sold at Anglo Plat in Modikwa, Steelpoort.
On June 6 similar lots will come under the hammer at Anglo Plat in Atok, Lebowa.- Eugene Goddard
