Durban is abuzz with Bafana Bafana fever.

Since the team arrived in the city on Monday, fans have been in a frenzy and doing everything they can to catch a glimpse of their heroes.

People in trains, taxi ranks, bus stops and hawkers are looking forward to the Saturday match between Bafana Bafana and Chad for the 2008 MTN Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.

It will be for the first time Bafana Bafana play in Durban under their new coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira. KwaZulu-Natal's premier, S'bu Ndebele, said the team's presence will demonstrate the province's readiness to host World Cup matches in 2010. He said it was a must that South Africa qualifies and wins the Afcon.

Vusi Mazibuko, head of eThekwini municipality's sports and recreation department, said they were ready for the big day. He said Durban would maintain its known history of successfully hosting high-level games and events.
