A well-known Limpopo businessman and author is fuming at the management of Munghana Lonene FM, a Polokwane-based SABC radio station, for treating him "shabbily".

Siviko Mabunda, 39, said he had applied for a job at the radio station and was told to attend an interview last week.

He said he was made to wait for hours at the SABC reception until he phoned to enquire whether his turn would come.

He said he was sent from pillar to post, with no official of the station willing to take responsibility of informing him what to do.

Ultimately, he said, an executive producer, Conny Mashaba, told him to "try next time" as they were already done with interviews for the day.

"Mashaba told me to call Lawrence Ubisi, the programme manager, for clarity on the matter, but Ubisi would not talk to me," said Mabunda.

He said Mashaba called him later to inform him that the interview panel had been disbanded.

"I was shocked because I arrived at the agreed time for the interview," he said. "These guys saw me as a threat because I'm better qualified than they are," he boasted.

Kaizer Kganyago, spokesman for the SABC, yesterday advised people experiencing problems with their stations to forward complaints in writing so they could be investigated.
