Preparations are at an advanced stage for the 2007 Manchester United Nike Premier Cup in Soweto on June 9 and 10.

Phil "Chippa" Mogodi, South African Football Association Soweto regional chairman, said the event will take place at the Pimville-Klipspruit Development Centre.

As per tradition of the development tournament, the overall winners will represent South Africa at the world finals in Manchester later this year.

"We have put everything in place in terms of the tournament.

"The grass is being cut as requested by the organisers," said Mogodi.

Professional clubs such as Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Moroka Swallows, Mamelodi Sundowns, Silver Stars, Jomo Cosmos and Bidvest Wits will take part.

The junior Amabhakabhaka won the tournament last year and represented South Africa in England where they finished 10th overall. Swallows won the event in 2006.

Africa Youth Sports Academy, which is run by former Bafana Bafana player Harold "Jazzy Queen" Legodi, have also confirmed their participation.

Some of the youngsters who featured in the tournament include Cyril Mashego (Pirates), Thulane Ngcepe (Swallows) and Oupa Manyisa (Africa Youth Sports).

Mashego and Ngcepe are doing duty for Majimbos.
