Mpumalanga plans to supply water to all its people by 2010.

Speaking at the Africa Day celebrations in Kwaggafontein on Friday, Premier Thabang Makwetla said the province had made progress in sanitation by eradicating the bucket toilet system.

He said the provision of water and sanitation for the poor was now a priority.

"To address water-access challenges, we have set the 'Water for All' flagship project as one of the Big Five flagship priorities. This focuses on accelerating delivery of water infrastructure and services to ensure all Mpumalanga's citizens have access to safe and clean water by 2010," Makwetla said.

He said part of government's intervention to stimulate economic growth and job creation was prioritising the Moloto and Maputo Development corridors.

"These have the potential to further advance economic cooperation and partnership between Mozambique and South Africa, particularly Mpumalanga because of its proximity."
