Making a difference to women

We are continuing to have a positive affect on the lives of our women readers through the Sowetan Women's Club forums.

These forums are held nationwide to continue the empowerment of South Africa's women through motivational presentations by top-achieving people, mostly women, who are setting a trend in the business sector.

In the latest of such forums, which are sponsored by organisations including Mageu Number One, Old Mutual, Aranda Blankets, Spekko Rice and Playtex, the KwaZulu-Natal branch of Sowetan Women's Club will meet at the Southern Sun Elangeni Hotel in Durban on Wednesday at 6.30pm.

National African Women's Alliance chief executive Noluthando Langeni and National Ports Authority analyst Dianne Govender will speak at the gathering under the theme: Shipping, Mining and Tenders - Gearing Up For 2010 and Beyond.

Sponsors' representatives will also highlight the relevance of their corporate social investment and responsibility ideals, philosophies and ongoing work and innovations formulated to add value for the members.

Some of these innovations are the Mageu Number One Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, and investment tips presented by Old Mutual experts.

Regular features include fashion shows and musical performances, including by the Three Durban Divas for the Durban leg of the forum.
