William Gare has stated clearly that Nick Durandt's trash talk in Sowetan on Monday does not deserve a response.
Durandt said Gare would be risking his career by fighting the young and very strong Peter Mashamaite.
The fight will take place at the Orlando Communal Hall in Soweto on June 15.
Durandt contradicted boxing fundis who said Mashamaite was risking his SA super middleweight belt against Gare.
That conviction stemmed from the fact Mashamaite's only credible opponent to date was the ageing Mpush Makambi, who Mashamaite stopped in five rounds in defence of the IBO Intercontinental title in February.
Makambi, the former SA and IBO middleweight champion, is now a shadow of the fighter who outpointed Mashamaite for the SA title in 2004.
Durandt guided Vincent Vuma to two defences of his SA junior middleweight title against Gare.
"I know Gare like the back of my hand," he said.
Mashamaite has lost five times and drawn once in 23 fights, while Gare has 21 wins and 13 losses.
The soft-spoken yet forthright Gare, from Braamfisher in Dobsonville, said Durandt must concentrate on getting Mashamaite fit.
"Nick can even call me a palooka if he wants, I don't care. One thing is for sure, it's gonna be me, Mashamaite and the referee inside the ring," he said.
