Hanover Park rule

You have got to hand it to Hanover Park FC. They sure know how to turn on the heat, if their 10-0 defeat of Northern Cape's Kakamas Cosmos at the Vodacom League playoffs is anything to go by.

The Capetonians' ruthless display in the first Coastal stream men's match was watched by a bunch of travelling fans, whose expenses are said to have been paid for by the owner Ferdinand Jacobs.

The match itself, especially the scoreline, underlined again the difference in the development and ability of players from one province to another.

Hanover Park's goals were scored by Simphiwe Pama (4), two each by David Tango and Alfonso Toply and one each by Colin Moos and Nazier Benjamin.

Hanover Park have sounded a strong warning to the others in the tournament - that they don't intend returning to this league next season, after being dumped from the playoffs in two successive seasons (they were knocked out by OR Thambo 1-3 last year).

Twenty-five-year old Pama has his coach Ralph Hendricks worried.

"We went out and strengthened our team after our bitter exit last year, and it will be a shame if teams were to take away my players, especially Pama, because I'm going to need them if we qualify for the Mvela Golden League," said Hendricks.
