A Limpopo medical doctor was inducted as a headman at the weekend.

Davhana Stanley Nesengani is a principal specialist of obstetrics and gynaecology in the Department of Health and Social Development.

He looks after seven hospitals in the Vhembe district.

During his induction at Tshivhazwaulu- Mangilasi near Thohoyandou he was named Humbulani, which means remember where you come from.

He is the first-born son of the late Etienne Billy Nesengani, from the royal council of Nesengani.

The doctor takes over from his father, who died in 2005 after a long illness.

After his induction ceremony, Nesengani told Sowetan that he was going to deliver amenities and create employment .

"I'm going to render education and awareness campaigns in various illnesses, including HIV-Aids," he said.

Chief Thifhelimbilu Philemon Nesengani, who presided over the ceremony, asked him to "rebuild and develop the area" of HaNesengani through his knowledge and talent.

"Please rate your commoners equal and help them if they need your hands," he said.
