A man who allegedly stabbed to death a man he accuysed of sleeping with his girlfriend was found shot dead abut an hour later.

Xolani Mkhize, 30, stabbed Sandile Ndlovu, 30, at Tokyo Sexwale Stree at the notorious Steadville Township in Ladysmith in the northern KwaZulu-Natal.

An eye witness told Sowetan that Mkhize only came and just attacked Ndlovu.

"The boys were relaxing when the incident unfold. It seems Mkhize had planned this for long time. There were rumours that Ndlovu was sleeping with Mkhize's girlfriend," she said.

It is alleged that Ndlovu took the woman with him home but Mkhize followed them to Ndlovu's place.

Police spokesman Captain Charmaine Struwig said Ndlovu sustained several stab wounds to the chest. "He was rushed to the hospital and died on arrival," she said.

It's alleged that after Ndlovu's death Mkhize went to L J Dube Street and he was found death with gun shot on Sunday morning. Struwig said that police were alerted about the incident when Mkhize body recovered.

"He had been shot and killed the previous evening. The deceased had sustained a gun shot wound to the left side of his chest and appeared to have been stabbed too. A projectile was recovered on the scene," she said.

A Tuckshop and Shebeen are run on the same premises on the street were ransacked and appeared to also have been robbed. The tuckshop and Shebeen belongs to Mkhize's family.

Struwig said that police are investigating the possibility link between the two killings.

The area has been covered with dark cloud in the past few months as gang wars flare-ups from time to time occurring. It has been in the watchful

Sanele Mokoena, ward councillor said the recent killing is not related to the gang violence in the area. "The information that we have is that the boys were fighting over the woman," he said.

Mokoena said that Mkhize and Ndlovu come from one section in the township and both their families were never involved in gang fighting.

"But we have huge crime elements in the township as sporadic gun fire being heard everyday," he said.
