LimDev Super League club Seleteng Giant Killers have lambasted Limpopo Softball Association (LSA) boss Guillo "S'Dumo" Marapyane and called him to urgently change his attitude towards the GaMphahlele side.

"The sooner Guillo changes his attitude towards certain clubs like Killers the better for the growth of softball in the province," Jimmy "Jay-Jay" Ngobeni, Killers' spokesman, said yesterday.

"The comments he made in your newspaper on Tuesday regarding our prize money were pre-emptive and disturbing. He is trying to influence the outcome of the council [meeting] about our case.

"I think we must tell him now that he is not bigger than softball. He can't take unilateral decisions on matters affecting the sport.

"If the president of LSA can make such statements in the media, then we are going nowhere as softball teams in this province," fumed Ngobeni.

Killers are reacting to comments Marapyane made that his association would not entertain the matter surrounding their "forfeited" R20000 second prize.

He said the decision will be taken at their council meeting next month.

Marapyane accused Killers' management of ordering their players not to accept their medals on Sunday.

Killers were protesting the crowning of Mahwelereng Spikes as the league champions because they believe they still have a pending case against the Snakes after the abandonment of their first-round tie in Mahwelereng.

Killers refused to continue with play in the last innings, claiming that it was too dark.

The venomous Snakes were leading 6-1 when the match was abandoned.

The unperturbed Marapyane, who is also Softball South Africa's president, told Sowetan yesterday he stood by the comments he made on Tuesday.

Added Ngobeni: "Guillo is not part of Killers' management and he must come forward and tell us who ordered the players not to take the medals. We are keenly waiting for a date for the council meeting to resolve this issue."

Killers' action was viewed widely in softball circles as embarrassing to LSA and the sponsors.
