Parents in Madras in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, are enraged after five- year-old Sakhile Mnisi drowned in a cattle dip tank right outside his school.

Mnisi drowned just 10m from the school gate. Now parents want the Agriculture Department to remove the dip tank or fence it.

The dip tank is in the middle of the village and is surrounded by a clinic, a church, a football field, a tavern and a tuck shop.

Police spokesman Constable Sydney Tshuketana said they were investigating the drowning, though details were still sketchy.

"Nobody saw what happened. The child was found dead inside the dip tank," he said.
