Sage words

Concerns raised by Zulu monarch Goodwill Zwelithini over the renaming of Durban streets and places in honour of ANC heroes, should be taken seriously.

Speaking at the weekend Zwelithini warned - specifically - against the renaming of the Mangosuthu Highway in honour of slain human rights lawyer, Griffiths Mxenge.

The brouhaha over this matter has caused tension to run high between the ANC and the IFP in KwaZulu-Natal.

The eThekwini municipality should rescind some of its planned changes and respect that the province is home not only to ANC supporters but also to other people who subscribe to differing political ideologies.

The king has spoken. Let his wisdom be respected.
