The Living Sound Faith Tabernacle Church in Rustenburg has started a project to help combat poverty, teenage pregnancies and substance abuse among the community of Meriting Extension.
"The situation affected us and that is when we decided to come up with a solution. We then started the Dream Revival Community Centre as a response to the problem," said pastor April Selloe.
He said the centre was a result of the many years of ministry and working with ordinary people within the communities.
"We work hand in hand with professional counsellors in the centre. The centre has been operational for the past four months and there is great improvement. The centre is open to everyone."
He said about 120 of the people that graduate from the centre are placed in mines and other companies.
"On Thursdays the church also runs an entrepreneurial programme to assist budding businessmen and businesswomen. It is high time churches improve the lives of their congregations. They [congregations] must be set free from the bondage of poverty so that they should give back to the Lord with a smile."
He said because of the programme four businesses have been set up and are progressing well.
From May 24 to June 2 the church will hold a crusade at Paardekraal Extension 1.
