The popular Selati 3 in 1 Marathon marks its 18th birthday tomorrow at the Onderberg Marathon Club.

Deon Valks, race coordinator, said the unique race will once more start at the Malelane Rugby Club at 7am, where it will also end.

"Competitors have a choice between the 10km, 21,1km or 32km races.

"Two unique aspects of this race are the route and the water points. More than 10km of the 32km route is on the banks of the Crocodile River overlooking the Kruger National Park and runs adjacent to the Green Cane Fields," said Valks.

He said the water points, considered as some of the best in the lowveld, each have their own unique character and are a real treat to any tired runner. They are manned by the different divisions of TSB Sugar Limited as well as Malelane Spar and Leopard Creek.

"This leads to serious competition to be awarded as the best water point. No trouble or effort is spared to ensure this and create an unforgettable experience for each runner passing through the water point.

Valks said the prize money of more than R14000 adds to the special appeal of the race.
