Pop goes lyrical peace

A pop war of words is being waged between Fergie, above left, and Nelly Furtado above right, after a song's lyrics left the Canadian feeling sore.

A pop war of words is being waged between Fergie, above left, and Nelly Furtado above right, after a song's lyrics left the Canadian feeling sore.

The Black Eyed Peas star said she spoke to Furtado after she poked fun at her in a song on her new album and felt the nasty moment had passed.

But when Furtado continued to grumble about her spat with Fergie, the glamorous singer decided to fight back and go public with her feelings.

Speaking on a Los Angeles radio show on Wednesday, Fergie said: "Something went down with the lyrics of a song and she thought I was talking about her because we had similar lyrics when our albums came out, and it wasn't even true.

"So she came out with a song about it and I said to her 'Hey, listen, is this song about me, because I heard from [producer] Scott Storch that it was' and she beat around the bush a bit and said 'Yeah' and apologised, and I said 'OK'.

"I was willing to keep it between us, but she goes on MTV and said it wasn't about me and then on YouTube she said it was about me, so which is it?

"She was just calling me out on a song . [and now] it's like a light battle." - Wenn
