The executive committee of the 70/80 Soccer Legends in the Eastern Cape, that was elected two weeks ago, will meet the head of the department of sports on Monday to brief him about their programmes for the year.

The 70/80 Soccer Legends chairman in the area, Dr Zukile Luvenge, said the programmes will include coaching clinics and the training of legends to be qualified referees, coaches, trainers and administrators.

The executive was elected in Mbizana where legends from all corners of the province and other areas attended.

Luvenge added that they managed to bring together former referees, administrators, players and mentors to the meeting with the help of the department of sports, arts and culture, the OR Tambo District Municipality and the Municipality of Mbizana.

He said the beneficiaries of the Fifa 2010 World Cup were not only in the host cities but also in the rural outskirts of the country such as Mbizana.

The executive committee of the 70/80 Soccer Legends in the Eastern Cape are:

Chairman: Zukile Luvenge; deputy chairman: Charles Myeki; general secretary: Wellington Ngcobo; recording secretary: Luvuyo Ncandana; treasurer: Phumelele J. Magida. Additional members: Mathamba Mbongeni, Jakuja Sivuyile, Nkompela Xolile, Headbush Silo, Mphekula Mbuyiselo and Flatela President.
