A 38-year-old East London man, accused of raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl, yesterday again begged to be released so he could care for his mother's chickens.
The man has not pleaded to the charge and has been remanded in custody until June 13.
He allegedly raped a Jongilanga High School pupil in Kwelera, outside East London, in March.
During his last court appearance, magistrate Joe Zoemath refused him bail.
Zoemath yesterday refused to release him so he could go home and look after his mother's chickens. - Vuyolwethu Sangotsha
