Rodrigues 'a wicked schemer'

Convicted murderess Dina Rodrigues was a "scheming, wicked woman" and should get the maximum sentence, Vernon Norton, grandfather of slain baby Jordan-Leigh Norton said.

Convicted murderess Dina Rodrigues was a "scheming, wicked woman" and should get the maximum sentence, Vernon Norton, grandfather of slain baby Jordan-Leigh Norton said.

Norton was speaking outside the Cape high court on Monday, immediately after Judge Basheer Waglay found Rodrigues and her four co-accused guilty of murder.

"We are glad about the decision. We think she's a scheming, wicked woman and that she should be put away for life," Norton said.

Rodrigues and her co-accused will have to wait until at least next month for sentencing. All five were convicted of the 2005 murder of baby Jordan-Leigh Norton.

After handing down his verdict, Judge Waglay postponed the trial to June 4 for sentencing. - Sapa
