Two vehicles were damaged during a shootout between robbers and security guards in Mpumalanga yesterday morning.
Fidelity Guards was delivering money to the Hazyview FNB branch at about 10am when three armed men approached them.
They held up the security vehicle and made off with an undisclosed sum of money .
Hazyview police spokesman Constable Mpho Koli, said one of the robbers had pointed a firearm at a guard who was carrying a money bag and ordered him to drop it.
The robbers took the money and fled the scene.
As they drove off, the robbers fired shots at the security guards, a shootout ensued and two parked vehicles were damaged.
Police tried to trace the car, but could not find it. Koli said they were investigating.
Hazyview is a popular gateway to the Kruger National Park's Kruger gate.
