Founder of the Tlhokomelo Health Centre, Isaac Masilo, said he started the centre in 2004 after many people were found dead in the surrounding hills.
"They died because their families had disowned them when they became ill. Others were kicked out of their homes because they were unable to pay rent," he said.
The centre received R200000 from Sports Heroes Against HIV-Aids, led by former world boxing champion Baby Jake Matlala, in December.
"We have bought a new seven-seater vehicle to transport patients, a large cold-room, a backup generator, laundry equipment and a hot water geyser," Masilo said.
The centre has a kitchen, store-room, administration office and a safe-room. There is a ward for males and females, each accommodating 25 people.
Speaking at the official opening of the centre on Sunday, South African ambassador for children's rights, Gabatshwane Gumede, urged the community not to discriminate against people living with HIV-Aids. - Sapa
