Pillars docked a point

City Pillars' supporters should heave a sigh of relief because Mathaithai are still in the Mvela Golden League's Platinum playoffs.

This in spite of a point deduction by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) disciplinary committee on Sunday night.

The point did not affect their playoff qualification because they enjoy a two-goal advantage over FC AK.

FC AK, who are now tied on 48 points with Pillars, would have replaced the Limpopo club had the latter been penalised three points.

Pillars were found guilty of fielding an improperly registered player, Vacas Ngwenya, in their 1-all drawn league clash against Nathi Lions in Polokwane on February 18.

They were further fined R20 000, which is suspended for 12 months on condition they do not commit a similar offence during the period of suspension.

Pillars were also ordered to pay Lions a reasonable amount for travel and accommodation costs, including an economy-class air ticket and the costs of the hearing.

PSL general manager Andrew Dipela said the point deducted from Pillars had been expunged.

The draw for the playoffs will be conducted on May 21 and matches start on June 2 and the finals will be held 22 days later.
