Your recent article, "Blacks should rethink beliefs", refers.

I appreciate the fact that there are people like Hulisani, the writer of the article, who care about others' lives. But we need to be very careful when it comes to the issue of cultural or religious beliefs. Beliefs take time to find a place in the hearts and minds of the people, regardless of skin colour.

When they are finally embraced, it takes a hell lot of time to disown them. When it comes to beliefs you don't just wake up and embrace or denounce a belief. If you do, you will not be taken seriously however correct you maybe. You might just toughen resistance to rethinking embraced beliefs.

People need time to change their beliefs. We may think all non-blacks have no problem with donating their bodily parts. That's a dangerous perception. Or we may think all blacks do not donate such parts because of culture or religion.

I reject generalisation because it not only disregards facts, and perpetuates self-glorification founded on shallow application of mind. I believe we should try to inform the public about the issue of donating organs on a continual basis. Both the positives and the negatives should be highlighted.

In a democracy such as ours, it's crucial for individuals to make decisions by themselves and for themselves.
