The Mpumalanga provincial legislature is in such a financial fix it has no money to bring back the body of a member of the provincial legislature who died while on an official trip to Australia.
Sowetan was told that the ANC paid for members and officials to travel to Australia to fetch the body of Thoko Mabena who died last Friday.
The situation is apparently so serious that the legislature will only be able to pay employees' salaries until September.
ANC provincial secretary Luca Mello denied reports that his party had come to the legislature's rescue. - Sakhile Mokoena
