"The world does not see us as human beings," the 38-year-old father of seven said. He said an agreement between Sudan and the UN to deploy some 3500 military personnel to support the AU force in Darfur has failed to lift the gloom.
"Those 3000 cannot secure Darfur. We need 20000 or 25000 people," he said. Sudan has rejected such a force and says it will not bow to "Western blackmail".
The UN says around 200000 people have been killed in Darfur since 2003 when rebel groups took up arms against the government, accusing it of neglect. But Sudan says only 9000 have perished. - Reuters
