Former Mpumalanga boss denies graft rap

F ormer Mpumalanga director-general Stanley Soko yesterday pleaded not guilty to charges of fraud, corruption and contravening the Public F inance M anagement A ct.

Soko appeared in the Nelspruit regional court, with his co-accused Ernest Khosa, former chief executive of the Mpumalanga Economic Empowerment Corporation.

Soko is alleged to have irregularly approved a R3,6million payment to Rainbow Kwanda to market and improve the image of the province, despite Rainbow not doing the work.

Khosa is accused of accepting a R700000 bribe from Rainbow to help it win the image-building tender.

The case continues today.
