The young man accused of being responsible for the collapse of Khanyisile Mbau's marriage says he is gay.
Mbau and millionaire husband Mandla Mthembu have split after accusations that she was seeing another man.
"All I wanted was to dance with her. I am gay and not sexually attracted to her."
Thokozani said he was to have danced with her for the video of her upcoming album.
Thokozani, 19, who refused to give his surname, said he has known Mbau since she featured in SABC2's soapie Muvhango.
He said he had been baffled by gossip that he had ruined her marriage.
"Initially, I thought it was a joke, but last Thursday I realised it was serious. I have since spoken to Mandla.
"It seems Khanyi had stored a number [via cellphone] under 'Thokozani'. Mandla found out she had been calling that number, but it is not mine," said Thokozani.
He said Mthembu discovered a text message from Thokozani to Mbau that he was at the Samas last weekend.
"I was at the Rand Show until very late and I can prove it," he said.
He said when he realised that Mbau's marriage was on the rocks, he decided to cancel the dancing deal.
Mthembu yesterday said that Mbau had moved out of the their Melrose Arch penthouse at the weekend.
The couple had a fallout after the birth of their first child and Mbau moved out. But a few months ago she moved back into her husband's home.
Mbau refused to comment yesterday.
"I'm too weak emotionally to comment," she said.
She was not aware that Mthembu had opened a case of assault against her after Mbau opened a case of assault against him.
"Has he? Okay, that's fine," was all she would say.
Mthembu admitted to slapping Mbau at the music awards ceremony last week, but claimed it had been in self-defence.
"Now, it is over between us. I don't love her anymore," he said.
Mbau, however, said she still adored Mthembu, but could not tolerate an abusive husband.
