A huge field of golfers is expected at the Erinvale Country Club in Cape Town when the 10th South African Disabled Golf Open tees off next month.
The competition, which has featured South Africans only in the past, will include a number of players from France, Sweden, Wales, Scotland, Holland, the US, Germany and the UK.
According to the South African Disabled Golf Association (Sadga) executive director Eugene Vorster, last year's event broke all previous records in terms of entries.
"We intend to expand the tournament and are again looking for record entries. This year we have international entrants and we're thrilled about the participants," said Vorster.
Defending champion Johan Kammerstadt from Sweden will defend his title, and Ben van Zyl, Nedbank's South African Disabled Golfer of the Year, will also take part.
Vorster said that their partnership with Nedbank continues as the title sponsor.
Nedbank's head of group sponsorships Andy Scott said the event was perfectly aligned to the bank's sponsorship strategy and its aspiration of being the bank of choice for people with disabilities.
"Nedbank is committed to developing golf and sport for the disabled in South Africa and this sponsorship provides an ideal opportunity for us to combine two key areas and to demonstrate our commitment to the disabled golf community," he said.
Scott said in addition to the title sponsorship of the South African Disabled Golf Open, Nedbank is committed to creating disabled-friendly branches and being an employer of choice for the disabled.
