One of a group of suspected women shoplifters, who allegedly stole food from supermarkets in Limpopo and hid the loot in their underwear, has been caught red-handed.

Other members of the group managed to escape while security guards tried to apprehend them this week.

Members of the public, who claimed to see the women stealing from the Mopani Spar Supermarket and the Boxer Supermarket in Giyani, reported them to security guards who gave chase .

Dayson Makaringe, one of the security guards, said: "We found the six women removing red meat from their panties and bras.

"Five managed to flee in a Bantam bakkie, but we arrested one of them," he said.

Shoppers and other members of the public then attacked the woman and the guards had to call police to rescue her from the mob.
