Three men, including a police reservist, appeared in the Mmabatho high court for allegedly burning a man to death after they accused him of housebreaking.

Johny Kgari, 30, Andrew Kebaneilwe Mokgatlhe, 22, and Kenneth Olebogeng Ramesega, 25, from Makgola village in Lehurutshe near Zeerust, North West, were charged with the August 9 2005 murder of Abram Molebatsi.

Buti Molebatsi, 21 , told the court that he saw his brother being assaulted and burnt.

He said he heard someone screaming and found his brother lying down and being assaulted with wire.

Molebatsi said his brother's legs and hands were tied with belts and he was later set alight.

"I asked why they were assaulting my brother and they accused him of breaking into one of their homes where a hi-fi was stolen."
