The investigation into the widespread issuing of fraudulent licences in Limpopo has been taken to Cape Town.
The Limpopo Department of Roads and Transport's anti-fraud and corruption unit said it was concluding its probe into the irregular issuing of driver's and learners' licences, and motor registration permits.
The unit's acting head, Gordon Horn, was in Cape Town finalising investigations into the alleged corruption. He is due back in Limpopo today.
The move follows the recent discovery of a scam in which departmental officials were found to have registered cars as far away as Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and Gauteng from testing stations in Limpopo.
The scam was discovered in Nebo three weeks ago. So far one officer had been suspended.
According to preliminary investigations, people wanting licences would fax the required documents to the officer in question.
The officer would then sign on behalf of the applicant and process the documents for a bribe of between R1500 and R3000.
