Backfiring blanks

There are lingering questions relating to the mysterious death of North West farmworker Johannes Sebigi.

There are lingering questions relating to the mysterious death of North West farmworker Johannes Sebigi.

Before his death, Sebigi reported his boss to the police on Saturday night claiming he had pointed a gun at him.

The police strangely did not act on the complaint.

Sebigi's brother says he later arrived home with a gunshot wound and before he died told him he had been shot by the farmer.

Sebigi's boss was only taken into custody on Monday night but released the following day after investigations concluded he had committed suicide. This conclusion was influenced by the discovery of a holster under Sebigi's body.

Without casting any aspersions, the police's probe was hasty, providing no answers.
