Ethekwini Municipality are pleased with the preparations for the eagerly-awaited historic 2010 World Cup preliminary draw in Durban on November 23.

The draw, which is expected to be attended by more than 3 500 people from around the globe, will take place at the International Convention Centre.

Julie-May Ellingson, head of strategic project unit and 2010 World Cup programme of the municipality, said it was all systems go.

"We are well on track with everything relating to the preparations. We have a well documented track record of international events of any nature.

"We feel that we will be able to deliver a memorable event that will make the whole of South Africa proud.

"One of the most recent great international shows that we have hosted successfully was the A1 Grand Prix," said Ellingson.

She added that they will use the draw to show the world that South Africa "was indeed ready to host the 2010 World Cup".

""We are also in discussions with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) regarding some of the other things that we are planning for the draw.
