His body has been lying in the mortuary for almost three weeks now.
New St Emmanuel Apostolic Church Archbishop Mashack Sethunya died on March 29 and has not been laid to rest yet.
Sethunya's two wives and his girlfriend are at each other's throats over who has the right to bury him.
The first wife, Masethunya, from Qwaqwa in Lesotho, and his second and customary wife, Mirriam Madillo Thobela, are fighting with his girlfriend, Tiny Segopa, a sangoma from Tshepisong, who was staying with Sethunya before he died.
Sethunya left his first wife in QwaQwa and came to Johannesburg to start a new branch.
He then found himself another wife and a girlfriend. Two church members who did not want to be named told Sowetan yesterday that Segopa had opened a branch of her own in her yard.
The church members also said that Sethunya had come to see Thobela 12 days before he died to ask for forgiveness and to tell her that he wanted to return home.
They also said that Thobela had told Sethunya that he was welcome to come back any time but that she did not trust him any more because he had previously made similar promises to come back but had not.
The famous Jozi FM's Cheaters-uyajola that was aired on Thursday nights at 10pm once investigated Sethunya after Thobela complained that she suspected he was cheating on her late last year.
Cheaters investigators proved to Thobela that Sethunya was having an affair with Segopa and a fight broke out among the three women. The studio turned into a war zone as the women started fighting.
Masethunya said she could accept the second wife but not the girlfriend.
Sethunya is said to have gone back to Thobela the following day after he was on Cheaters and apologised.
Sethunya moved back to Segopa's place in January after Thobela went home to Lesotho to attend her uncle's funeral.
When she came back she found Sethunya's wardrobe cleaned out and he was nowhere to be found again.
Thobela never went looking for her husband as she hoped that one day he would return home.
"All I want is for my husband to be laid to rest," said Thobela.
Masethunya is now staying with Sethunya's brother in Pimville until this matter is resolved.
Masethunya told Sowetan yesterday that all she wants was to bury her husband where he belongs in QwaQwa.
"It is very important for me to that my husband be buried in his home town next to his siblings," she said.
There was no comment from Masethunya.
Judgment on who will bury Sethunya is expected in the Johannesburg h igh c ourt today.
