GABORONE -South Africa have qualified for the All Africa Games to be held in Algeria in July after their inspired 2-0 triumph over a game Botswana in front of an impressive crowd at the National Stadium here yesterday.

This comes after warnings that Botswana would avenge a 0-2 setback their side suffered in the first leg in Potchefstroom three weeks ago.

The hosts started the match with aggression, trying to unsettle South Africa with an early goal but failed to utilise chances created. Moemedi Moatlhaping tested South African goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa in the sixth minute and executed a brilliant save.

Botswana continued to pile on the pressure on their neighbours through Moatlhaping, Betsho Pius and Goboneone Selefa, but some brilliant defending by Innocent Mdledle and company, coupled with agility by Meyiwa, kept Botswana's strikers at bay.

South Africa confirmed their resistance and commitment to the task at hand with a beauty by Lebohang Mokoena in the 37th minute. Mokoena got a defence splitting pass from Sibusiso Hadebe and beat Botswana's goalminder Itumeleng Selepa. South Africa's second goal was struck by Sandile Ntuli in the 79th minute.
