KAMPALA - A mob stoned an Asian man to death in Uganda yesterday and two other people were killed when a protest at plans to axe parts of a rain forest reserve to grow sugar-cane turned violent.
Police fired teargas and live rounds after demonstrators, angry at moves to expand Indian-owned sugar plantations, began attacking Asian businesses and a temple.
"Three people have been confirmed dead," said police. - Reuters
