Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
The much-awaited South African Music Awards (Samas) take place at the Sun City Superbowl, in Pilanesburg, tomorrow night.
As usual glamour, fashion, beautiful cars and women will be on show.
Highly contested categories such as the best kwaito album category make the awards extremely interesting to watch.
This year the running is between Kabelo, Thebe, Sgonondo, L'vovo Derango and Trompies.
I believe L'vovo is the most deserving of the honour. After only seven months in the music industry, the lad from Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal is already making waves.
Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the award went to Kabelo.
As far as the best female album category goes, the sealed envelope should go to Simphiwe Dana.
Best album of the year has Vusi Mahlasela written all over it for his Naledi Ya Tsela. If we're kind enough, maybe we can also consider newcomer Siphokazi.
In the best mbaqanga album category, where Bhekumuzi Luthuli, Thokozani Langa and Soul Brothers are ready to annihilate each other, I would not overlook the over-nominated Soul Brothers. Why not just give them a lifetime achievement award and let Thokozani and Bhekumuzi battle this one out man-to-man?
Another interesting category is the best newcomer category. The lines are drawn between Lesego, Lucas Senyatso, Maduvha, Rae and Siphokazi.
If Siphokazi doesn't take it, we will personally deliver the Sama to Lesego's house.
If Simphiwe does not take more than three Samas, we will snatch her trademark scarf and run a marathon from Sun City to Jozi.
Perhaps Rae can join us on the run?
