Tough Ireland game for SA U-19s

The South African Under-19 squad will have to pull out all the stops if they hope to beat the hosts Ireland at Belfast Stadium tomorrow.

The South African Under-19 squad will have to pull out all the stops if they hope to beat the hosts Ireland at Belfast Stadium tomorrow.

The two meet in the IRB Under-19 World Championship game in Pool A.

The SA Under-19 squad were disjointed when they lost 17-8 to France in their second match this week.

Poor ball handling and inconsistent defending contributed to their downfall.

Coach Eric Sauls will have to come out with a different strategy in their approach against Ireland. They will have to go for broke from the onset if they hope to unsettle the hosts.

Both teams are sharing five points each from two games but SA are placed sixth on the log, ahead of Ireland (seventh) because of a better bonus point difference.

Other fixtures: New Zealand v England; Scotland v Fiji; Samoa v Japan; Australia v France; Argentina v Wales.

l The South Africa game will be televised live on SuperSport 5 tomorrow at 8.25pm (SA time). - Meshack Khotha
