Former Orlando Pirates and Jomo Cosmos player Andrew "Malome" Phiri died on Monday after he suffered a stroke last year.
Phiri, 53, started playing football in the 1970s as a defender for A to Z in Sharpeville and then joined Vaal Professionals. He then moved to Orlando Pirates and later to Cosmos.
Before his death he was playing for Sebokeng Masters. He is survived by his wife Leticia Phiri and two sons, Oleon, 27, and Kenneth, 16. Funeral details will be announced later. - Len Khumalo
