The KwaZulu-Natal department of health is investigating allegations that two of its paramedics in Pietermaritzburg were caught having sex inside an ambulance in a public space while on duty.
Provincial health spokesman Nhlanhla Nkosi said: "These allegations are very serious. We are investigating and are going to meet with the complainant.
"He claims to have proof in the form of photos he took of the incident," said Nkosi.
Nkosi and other department officials are expected to meet with the complainant today.
"If we find any truth to these allegations, the harshest actions will be taken against those found guilty. We want to make our message clear so that such things don't happen in this profession," said Nkosi.
