Guitarist, singer and composer, Louis Mhlanga, will stage a concert at the Wits Theatre on April 25.

Mhlanga with his band, which features formidable local jazz music heavyweights Randall Skippers, Michael Phillips, Phillip Meintjies and Basi Mahlasela will mesmerise the audience as they normally do.

Mhlanga started playing the guitar when he was 10 years old. Over the years he has become one of the best jazz artists in southern Africa.

Mhlanga is acknowledged as one of the hardest working artists in the country too. He has an interesting manner of strumming and picking the guitar, distinguishing features that separate him from other guitarists.

This mastery, combined with a deliberate yet delicate singing voice and great compositional skill, defines what it is that makes Mhlanga a true genius.

He has worked with many artists such as Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse, Hugh Masekela, Ray Phiri, Busi Mhlongo, Caiphus Semenya, Letta Mbuli, Jonas Gwangwa, Paul Hanmer, Sibongile Khumalo and Vusi Mahlasela.

The concert takes place at the Wits Theatre on Wednesday April 25 at 8pm. Tickets are R66.50 and R35.50 for pensioners, students, and block bookings of 10 and more.
