The church was putting too much emphasis on preaching the gospel of salvation instead of the restoration of the Kingdom of God, Apostle Isaac Sithole, president of Oasis of Family Church, said on Sunday.

Speaking to more than 2000 people who converged for the five-day Easter weekend celebrations in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, Sithole called for a relook at the way preaching was done. He was speaking under the theme Restoration of the Kingdom of God 2007.

Sithole said the problem facing the church today was that it put too much emphasis on preaching the gospel of salvation and of preparing people for heaven.

"The Kingdom of God does not come with observation, but is within you," he said.

Reading from the gospel of John: Chapter 3:3-5, he quoted Jesus telling one of the Pharisees called Nicodemus, who was a member of the Jewish ruling council, that no one would see the kingdom of God unless he was born again.

"I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit," Jesus told the Pharisee.

The celebrations ended on a high note when the Durban branch gave Sithole a bust of himself made by a member of the congregation, while his wife Pastor Sibongile Sithole received an award as a token of her spiritual leadership.
