Two traditional Soweto rivals, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, suffered their first defeats of the season in the PSL Reserve League on Monday.

Amakhosi succumbed 2-0 to Jomo Cosmos at Eldorado Park Stadium, with goals from Alois Bunjira and Lethula Mofokeng.

At Johannesburg Stadium (B Field), Benoni Premier United narrowly beat Bucs 2-1 in a tough game.

United's Sibusiso Zwane and Bongani Thwala scored a goal apiece and Joseph "Dukuduku" Makhanya pulled one back for Pirates in the second half.

Both teams have accumulated 13 points from six games each but Pirates lead the pack because of a better goal difference.

At Germiston City sports ground, Bidvest Wits University staged a second half onslaught to beat Moroka Swallows 2-0.

Swallows' duo of Sibusiso Dlamini and Mame Niang played their hearts out up front but were frustrated by Wits' defence marshalled by the Premiership side's coach, Eric Tinkler.

Siseko Matshoba, who made his debut in style for the Clever Boys, opened the scoring in the 55th minute and completed his brace in the 70th.

Swallows' goalkeeper Jacob Mokhasi was replaced by Aubrey Mathibe in the 75th minute after he picked up an injury.

Spectators were treated to an avalanche of goals at Caledonian Stadium when SuperSport United disposed of Mamelodi Sundowns 6-5 in a Pretoria derby.
