FC AK are in a dilemma after their players embarked on an unprecedented strike over unpaid salaries and the club is now forced to field a second-string squad .

Bahumi (the rich ones), as FC AK were popularly known after the side's boss, Azziz Kara, signed household names at the beginning of the season, had only 10 players for their Mvela Golden League match against Winnerspark in Eldorado Park last Sunday.

The match, which FC AK lost 4-1, was abandoned about eight minutes from the final whistle after some of their players were said to be injured.

The only experienced players in the team were Thokozani Mnguni and Rowan Hendricks.

It now remains to be seen if they will manage to assemble a squad for their rescheduled league clash against the red-hot GaRankuwa United at the same venue today at 3pm.

Attempts to get comments from FC AK officials yesterday, including head coach Walter "Mr Fitness" Rautmann, drew a blank.

Premier Soccer League general manager Andrew Dipela said as far as they were concerned the match will be played as scheduled today.

"We met Azziz Kara last week and he gave us an assurance that they will honour all their remaining matches and we are all positive the match will be played tomorrow [today]," said Dipela yesterday.

Cappy Matutoane, the South African Football Players' Union national organiser, said the players will not honour the side's matches until they were paid their salaries from January.

Matutoane also lashed out at Rautmann, accusing the outspoken Austrian mentor of having little knowledge, if any at all, about South African law on employers contracts.

University of Pretoria and the equally troubled Fidentia Rangers clash at LC de Villiers Stadium in Pretoria in another rescheduled Mvela League tie at 3pm this afternoon.
